Samples of our work:

  • Mr A was the victim of an unprovoked attack. Mr A suffered a significant head injury and subsequently pursued a claim through CICA receiving an award of in the region of £7,000.  Mr A subsequently instructed this firm and we were able to persuade CICA to review the matter, resulting in a final award of in excess of £150,000. Without our intervention, Mr A would have been severely disadvantaged.
  • Mr B suffered a serious injury as a result from an unprovoked attack.  The injury resulted in significant brain damage and a change of personality.  Initially the CICA rejected the claim but after review awarded in excess of £20,000.  The Tribunal on appeal eventually awarded the maximum sum of £500,000.
  • Mr C was assaulted by a traffic officer and sustained severe bruising. He was prosecuted for an offence that he did not commit and after acquittal in the criminal courts, eventually secured a substantial sum by way of compensation.

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority – CICA

The firm has handled a significant number of complex high value claims on behalf of victims of crime through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority. The ‘CICA’ scheme is very complex and Paul Fretwell of this firm is hugely experienced and able to guide claimants through the intricacies of the scheme, securing substantial awards for the victims of crime who have suffered serious head injuries.

Claims by Victims of Child Abuse

Julian Bobak, the Senior Partner, has a wealth of experience in dealing with claims on behalf of claimants who were abused as children.  He is a member of ACAL (Association of Child Abuse Lawyers) and conducts many cases either through the CICA, or in civil proceedings directed at relevant public authorities such as local authorities, schools etc.

Claims Against the Police

Ian Oliver, a Partner with this firm, has substantial experience in dealing with claims against Police Officers.  Whilst such claims are not necessarily ‘criminal’ in nature, often victims have suffered as a result of the unlawful actions of Police Officers.
